On Monday Kirsten and I spent four and a half hours at North Park Mall in Dallas, without even setting foot in a store. First we went to Storytime with Santa, then Jeremy came and met us for lunch. Kirsten then waited in line very patiently for an hour and a half to see the train exhibit. There are over 40 trains and 2500 feet of tracks. She was totally entranced, and would not leave for over 45 minutes. I could not decide which pictures to leave out, so I made a slide show. Enjoy!

After the trains we fed the ducks, looked at sculptures, made wishes in the wishing well, saw a scrooge puppet show and a Marionette puppet show in Santa's Toy Shoppe.

We had a wonderful day. She was such a trooper, especially since her stroller has recently been retired to the attic, and I cannot lift her because of my rib. Needless to say, she crashed hard on the way home. I think that we have a new Christmas tradition in our family!

Christmas Cards

So the Christmas cards are finally finished and sent. I hand made 65 cards this year. 55 of them were of my own design, the others I made at workshops or got from card club.
I know that I missed some people, and so I apologize. In case you didn't get one, and if you care to read it, below is our Christmas letter. Merry Christmas to all!

Dear Family and Friends
It seems like 2008 has flown by. I can hardly believe that another year has come to an end and that yet another Christmas is upon us.

This year has been eventful and very busy for our family. It seems like we spent the entire spring traveling to see family. In May we went to Utah for a week for Jeremy’s brother, Zach’s wedding. We were able to make the most of the trip by visiting with both of our families. A few weeks later we went to Kansas and Jeremy and I were able to see Wicked the Musical. Kirsten got to take her first trip to the zoo with Grandma Starnes in Topeka, which is also the first zoo that Jeremy went to when he was little.

In July, Laura’s sister, Anne, got married. Laura spent most of May and June helping plan and we are so thrilled for her and her girls. Sarah and Kaley spent two weeks with us after their mom’s wedding, which is the shortest summer they have had with us. Kirsten always loves having her cousins here.

In August Laura took a trip all by herself to California. She was able to visit her sister, Jenny, in Orange County and go to Disneyland. Then she went to northern California and was able to see her best friend, Christie get married in the Oakland Temple. She was also able to spend a few days sightseeing in San Francisco.

Kirsten is growing up so quickly. She took swimming lessons this summer and is a little fish. In fact, we spent almost everyday this summer at the pool. She started dance classes in September and loves it. She also started going to preschool two days a week and comes home everyday knowing new things and is actually starting to read a little bit. She is such the little social butterfly and calls anyone new she meets, friend, until she learns their name. She is starting to play the piano and will not let a day pass without her lesson. She loves to play dress up and role play like she is a princess and plans her wedding about 10 times a day. The best thing though is to watch her play by herself in her room and realize that when she thinks she is alone she is always singing to herself.

Laura is staying busy teaching. Between piano and trumpet lessons she has 32 kids this semester. She is hoping to cut back a little next year and spend more time with Kirsten. She is still the primary pianist in our ward and is excited to have Kirsten join her in primary in a few short weeks. Laura has also taken up stamping and spends what little free time she has making cards.

Jeremy is still working at Blue Cross Blue Shield and loving every minute of it. It is such a blessing to be able to enjoy what you do and who you do it with. He is also taking a Game Programming class at UNT this semester and is excited to be programming again since he does Databases all day at work. He was just released as Ward Clerk over Finances and is now serving in the nursery. It has been a blessing to all go to church in one car for the first time in our marriage. He has stayed busy doing home improvement projects and with the help of his dad and brother, Chris, actually put up gutters around the house.

We feel blessed to have such wonderful friends and family and pray that you will have a wonderful Holiday Season.

With Love,
Alleman Family

Christmas Parties

So after blogging nearly everyday last week, I have let this week fly by me. I just finished teaching my last ever late night piano lessons! I will miss the kids, but I am so excited to have more time with Kirsten and to maybe even clean my house and cook dinner.

We had an ice storm this week and they closed all the schools on Tuesday. I was not about to complain about a day in sweats at home with Kirsten. She had fun ice skating on the back porch and eating the ice off of everything.
Last night Kirsten went to a Christmas Party for her Dance Studio. It was hard for me to let Jeremy drop her off and be at the party by herself. Of course, we got over that as soon as we realized we were childless for 3 hours and we actually went on a date for the first time in a few months.
Today her school had a Birthday party for Jesus. She was very upset when he did not show up. I was able to go for a few minutes during my break at work and got some pictures of their ornament exchange. They did it musical hot potato style. Kirsten was thrilled to get a snowman ornament since we had taken a snowman ornament.

Confused Tree

Our tree is confused. It thinks that it is spring. Of course, after 3 hard freezes we have had 3 days in the 70s. So the tree is dead, except for this one branch that sprouted new leaves yesterday.
Not to be left out, my lilies, tulips and daffodils have started peaking their heads out too.

Don't worry, we are supposed to have an ice storm in 2 days, so that will knock them out, but I just hope they come back when it really is spring!

Late Halloween Picture

I got this picture today of Kirsten's dance class from her teacher. She is the Snow White on the back row. Have you ever seen so many princesses in one place?!

Cute pictures

Saturday we went to our ward's breakfast with Santa. Kirsten wanted nothing to do with him. When we got home, she informed me that he was not the real Santa, because the real Santa says "Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas" and this one just said "Merry Christmas". Now She is on a quest to find the "real" Santa.

My little dress up queen. Why do I bother buying normal clothes? They never get worn.
And yes, she does the dishes!

Big Sunday

Today was a big Sunday for Kirsten. About half way through Fast and Testimony meeting she jumped out of her seat and said "I want to go up there! Come on Daddy!" So Kirsten drug Jeremy up to the stand and sat there patiently for her turn while about 6 other people bore their testimonies. When it was her turn, she said "I love Heavenly Father and I love Jesus. I like to read the Book of Mormon and I know that President Monson is the Prophet. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen." I was beaming with pride. Of course she whispered and so practically no one heard her, but still!!!

During the second hour, her entire nursery class came in for singing and sharing time. There are 21 soon to be Sunbeams in our ward. She was so thrilled to see me behind the piano and sat with her arms folded the entire 45 minutes! During sharing time I came down and sat next to Jeremy and Kirsten. It was great to have our entire family together in primary. We will have time to get used to it because Jeremy found out today that he will be teaching Kirsten's Sunbeam class after the first of the year.

Kirsten also decided today that she is too big to take baths and insisted on taking a shower all by herself. Such a big Sunday of firsts for such a little girl!
