This past weekend we took a much needed family vacation. Due to time and money, we decided to stay close to home. We spent Thursday through Saturday at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. Let me start by saying, it was an amazing vacation. It was close to Disneyland on my radar, but much less expensive, and much closer. I would recommend it to anyone.
It was fun watching Kirsten's confidence and bravery build as the days went by.
The first day, it took some persuasion, but we finally got Kirsten to go down the blue slide in the toddler pool. Of course, once she tried it, she loved it and we spent the rest of the day there.
Day two, it took 4 tries, and both of us showing her it was safe to get her on Totem Towers, and then we spent the rest of the day climbing up the fort and then down one of the two slides.
Now comes day three, we ask her what she wants to do first, and she points and says "that big yellow one." Well, we checked, and you have to be 48" tall or 42" with an adult, and she is 44" tall, so up she went, up the 6 flights of stairs and then down she came with daddy.
By the time we left, she had gone on every single slide that she was tall enough for.
As for me, I am never going to a waterpark pregnant again. The only time I have been to Hurricane Harbor was when I took 180 band students there when I was 7 months pregnant with Kirsten - not fun.
I spent most of the time in the wave pool, lazy river, or lounging in the toddler area while she played. There just is not that much you can do 5 months pregnant at a water park.
Friday afternoon we took Kirsten for her appointment at the Scooops Day Spa. It is exclusively for 4-12 year olds. It was too cute an opportunity to pass up.
Kirsten chose a chocolate facial. She loved it, and I loved watching her!
After her facial, we ventured out of the resort and headed to the Rain Forest Cafe for dinner. Kirsten liked the elephants and gorillas, hated the storms, but loved all of the fish.
All in all, it was a great 3 days. We started each day with a great breakfast and ended each day with story time in the lobby. We were of course all wiped out, and Friday night, this is as far as Kirsten made it before she crashed.
We are hoping to go again soon, but not until after I have the baby and she is at least walking!
