Post Election Thoughts
Just a couple of thoughts on the devastating results from yesterday's election, and then I promise to try and hold my tongue.
1) "And if the time comes that the voice of the people doth choose iniquity, then is the time that the judgments of God will come upon you; yea then is the time he will visit you with great destruction." Mosiah 29:27 I believe that as a nation, we chose iniquity yesterday.
2) From my dad - During the final Battle of Armageddon, the forces of evil will be pressing the nation of Israel to the brink of destruction before they are miraculously saved by the Messiah (who turns out to be Jesus Christ.) Now, the nation of Israel cannot be pressed to the brink of destruction while being supported by a powerful United States. Thus, in order for the prophesied scenario to take place, either the United States must abandon Israel, or the US must cease to be powerful, or both. Four years ago, neither seemed possible. After four years of Obama, with another four years to go, both seem likely.
3) "We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law." Articles of Faith 12
4) And finally the statement from the leaders of our church regarding the Election.
So we are free to choose. We are not however free to choose the consequences of our actions. I will hold on to my faith that God, our Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ are in charge. There is a battle between good and evil being fought on this earth. The great thing is - we know the ultimate outcome of that battle. If we are prepared, we will not fear. So everyone please pray for our Country, for our President, and for our children. Pray like your life depends on it, because it does.
