California Trip Day 6 - Thursday

On Thursday, we woke up (late, thank goodness) and headed down to San Diego.  We finally found a parking spot downtown and headed up to my sister Jennifer's apartment.  The girls loved her place - it is so cute, with lots of pink and sparkles.
Jennifer surprised us with giving the girls matching heart glasses, kites, bubble wands, buckets, shovels, and sand molds.  They were so excited.  We headed up to Pacific Beach.  Our first stop was the Firehouse were we met her boyfriend Steve for lunch. (sorry, no pictures)  We really like him though.  He is so nice, was very attentive to my girls, and he and Jennifer are great together!

Then it was time to hit the beach!
It was Kirsten's second time at the beach and Katie's first.  They both loved it!

Jeremy had fun flying the kite and both girls even got a chance to do it.
Kirsten loved the water and by the end of the day was soaked from head to toe.
Katie preferred the sand and luckily Kirsten liked playing with her in it.

After about two hours, Katie got tired.  She grabbed a beach towel, climbed into her stroller and put herself to sleep.
During her nap, Jeremy and Kirsten completed the sand castle.
And Jeremy taught Kirsten how to skip rock.
In the afternoon, some clouds rolled in and it got a little chilly, so it was time to head out.  Jeremy thought that this would be the most effective way to get everything back to the car.
Kirsten was thrilled that we let her ride with her Aunt Jenny in her car that is way cooler than mine.
We headed to a frozen yogurt shop where we hung out for about an hour before heading back up to Orange County.
My sister put together an amazing video of our day together.

We had such an amazing day together.  It was definitely a highlight of our trip.  Kirsten had so much fun - she says she wants to live in San Diego when she grows up.  We love Jennifer so much and were so thrilled to be able to spend so much time with her!

California Trip Day 5 - Wednesday

Wednesday was our third and final day at Disneyland.  I think that we wore the girls out because they slept in until 6:30 in the morning!  We headed back up to the park and surprised the girls by attending the Minnie and Friends Breakfast at the Plaza Inn.
It was really similar to lunch yesterday in that the characters come to your table and spend time with you individually.  Our first visitor was Dale.  Kirsten kept asking where Chip was.
Then we had a visit from Tigger!  The girls were super excited since we had missed him by a few minutes on Monday.  They had a lot of fun running around and playing with him.
Then we had a magical visit from Cinderella's Fairy Godmother.  She was so sweet and Katie keeps asking to visit her again.
And of course we had a visit from Minnie Mouse!
Katie told Minnie "I am sorry I was scared of you on Monday.  I really love you!"  It was so sweet.
Then we had another visit from Eyeore.
And finally, Captain Hook.  I do not particularly like Captain Hook.  When I was two he tried to steal my sister.  We are not friends.  Katie shared my sentiment and would not get near him.  Kirsten on the other hand loved him.  He kissed her hand, and she keeps talking about how he treated her like a little lady.
After a truly magical breakfast, Jeremy went to change Katie's diaper, and Kirsten went on the Astro Orbiters all by herself while I looked on.  It was crazy to watch her go through the line and get on the ride all by herself.
The girls would not let us go through the day without a visit to Pixie Hollow.
While we were there, we met Rosetta
And also met Terrance.  Tinkerbell was off at the mainland for the day....
Kirsten said she felt like they shrunk her to be a real fairy!
After Pixie Hollow, we discover Snow White's wishing well.  I have been to Disneyland more times than I can count and I never knew it was there!  They sang wishing song from snow white and danced around.  It was so cute!
We headed into Fantasyland and hit the rides we missed on Monday.  Including Peter Pan, Snow White, Pinocchio, Mr Toad's Wild Ride and Kacey's Circus Train.
And we also went on the Story Book Canal Boats - another ride I have never been on, but loved!
Kirsten and Katie were also thrilled to be able to meet Merida from Brave.
And of course, we had to wait the hour to meet Rapunzel in her tower.  It was worth every minute to see their faces light up when they saw her.
We headed to Toon Town next and took Katie on her first roller coaster.  She did not like it.
Kirsten and Jeremy went on the Matterhorn one more time, we had lunch, and then headed over to California Adventure.

Once there we went straight to the theater to see the Aladdin Musical.  It was even better than I remembered!

Somewhere over the past week, Kirsten turned into a little daredevil.  She insisted on going on the Tower of Terror.  I took her the first time.  I was really worried about her.  When we got off and I asked if she was okay, she said "My legs are trembling.  That was awesome!  Let's go again!"  So Jeremy took her on it again while I took Katie back to the Bug's Life Land to go on rides more her speed.
Saturday night we had a picnic that I had pre-purchased to get our tickets for World of Color.  We ate pretty late and it was really quiet, which was really nice.
Our last ride of the night was Toy Story Mania.  It consistently has the longest lines in the park and no fast passes, but we love it and always do it anyways.
Then at last it was time to find our seats for World of Color.  The show was amazing and we had amazing tickets.  The girls were such troopers - the show did not even start until 9:15.
It was 10:30 by the time we got to our car, and we had been at the park for 13 1/2 hours that day. We were exhausted and sore, especially the little ones.
We had so much fun and did not want it to end.  Disneyland truly is the Happiest Place on Earth!

California Trip Day 4 - Tuesday

Tuesday began much the same way as Monday.  Kirsten and Katie woke up at 4:45 in the morning, despite having been out so late on Monday, and we headed to Disneyland and met Aunt Marilyn at 9 when the park opened.  Today though, we headed to California Adventure.

Right when we got in, Jeremy got in line to get fast passes for the Radiator Springs Racers ride.  The line is typically 3 hours long and the fast passes were all gone by 9:30 in the morning.  I was so glad that we were able to get them.  We headed straight to Cars Land.  It looked like we were really in Radiator Springs.
Our first ride of the day was at Luigi's Casa Della Tires.
It was pretty fun.  Kind of like the Tea Cups, but you lean in the direction you want to go.
The girls and me with Stanley
 Welcome to Radiator Springs!
We were able to meet Mater at the Cozy Cone

We had to come back later in the day, but we finally made it on the Radiator Springs Racers.
The scenery was beautiful - right out of the movie
I think that it is seriously the best ride I have ever been on. Kirsten was really lucky and got to go on it twice because of the rider switch pass!
Katie's favorite ride was the Ariel's Under Sea Adventure.  It was really fun watching her sing along and be so excited to see the scenery from the movie.
We even got to meet Duffy the Disney Bear (who I had never heard of before) but the girls loved him!

And then of course, Donald Duck.  Katie was thrilled and ran right up and gave him a huge hug.
After meeting Donald, Kirsten wanted to go on the California Scream Rollercoaster.  It goes upside down and I was really worried about her going on it.  Well, she loved it and ended up going twice - thanks to the rider switch pass.  I attempted to take Katie on the Carousel right next to, but she would have nothing to do with it.  It is funny how different these girls are!

Now for the best time of the day, lunch with the Princesses!  The girls got dressed up in their princess dresses.  Kirsten wore Rapunzel's wedding dress, complete with the hair.  Katie was Sleeping Beauty, or as she says "Sleepy Booty"
 My Beautiful Princesses
In front of Ariel's Grotto Restaurant
Waiting patiently on the stairs for our turn.

We booked the earliest seating of the day and were the first people to check in.  That meant that we were the first ones to head down the stairs and meet Ariel.
It also meant that we were at the first table.  So as each of the princesses came out, they came straight to our table.  Kirsten and Katie were so excited!  Not only was it fun to meet the princesses, the food was amazing.  This was our appetizer tower.
There was an amazing meal in the middle, but then of course this amazing desert tray.
The first Princess to come out and meet our girls was Jasmine.
 Followed by Belle
 And of course, Snow White

Our girls were in heaven and loved spending time one on one with their favorite princesses.

After lunch we headed into the Hollywood section of the park.

The girls loved the trolley with the Newsies singers
And of course the Phineas and Ferb Dance Party
We even managed to make it to Muppets 3D - Jeremy's favorite!
Then it was off to Bug's Land.  It is so cute and all of the rides are geared towards the little ones.  Kirsten was thrilled to be able to drive all by herself.  Katie "drove" also, but with a little bit of help from Daddy.
Then it was off to Heimlich's Chew Chew Train.  I think we ended up on this one 4 times.  The line was short and Katie loved it!
Afterwards, it was off to Disney Junior Live.  Katie found a video of the show on You Tube a couple of weeks ago.  She has watched it so many time that she has the show memorized and was begging to go.  Can you tell she is excited!
It is a really neat show hosted my Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and includes the stories of Sophia the First
 Doc McStuffins
and Jake and the Neverland Pirates
The show is done with puppets and is completely interactive.  Katie loved it - can you tell?!
Kirsten wanted to go on the Grizzly River Run Rapids and while she went on that - twice - Jeremy and I took turns taking Katie to the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.  She had a blast climbing and running
And climbing some more and going down the slides.
Then it was off to Soarin over California.  Katie was not tall enough, so Kirsten got to go on it twice (lucky kid).  I took Katie to the Pixar Play Parade while Jeremy and Kirsten were on it.  They met us right at the end and Katie climbed up on Jeremy's shoulders.  I had to get a picture because it looks so much like the one of Kirsten at almost the same age.

After that, we decided to call it a day.  We left the park about 7, and headed to Cafe Rio for dinner.  Turns out it was Taco Tuesday, and they had $1.75 tacos.  They were amazing.  We had the kids in bed by 8 that night, knowing that Wednesday would be our longest day.  Stay tuned for more Disney fun!
