One year older and wiser too...

Jeremy and I celebrated our birthdays this year with 48 hours of a round the clock fun!  On Saturday we went out to eat at Maggiano's with no kids!

Then Sunday was my birthday.  Jeremy and the girls spoiled me with breakfast in bed and lasagne for dinner.  He also got me a cake for the very first time in 10 years, and we had the Lendermans over for dinner cake and ice cream.
Then Monday was Jeremy's birthday.  We gave him his presents on Sunday night since Mondays are crazy around here.  We did manage to get up early and make him his favorite breakfast - biscuits and gravy.
We also got some killer presents this year from our parents.  My dad and Patty got us a sound bar for our tv.  My mom got us an annual membership to the Dallas Zoo.  Jeremy's parents gave us a picnic table for our backyard.  We have had so much fun this past month being able to eat dinner in the backyard and enjoy the cooler temperatures we have had this spring.
It is so fun having our birthdays back to back and being able to celebrate together.  Here's to another year!

School, Katie Style

Not a day goes by that Katie does not beg to go to school.  She gets dressed, packs her back pack and demands that we go.  She does not understand why Kirsten gets to go and she does not.
So we have started doing school together at home.  She can trace her alphabet, identify all of the alphabet, identify her numbers, count to 50, identify all her colors and shapes and do 24 piece puzzles by herself.  It is pretty fun to do with her.  Of course, she has some of the best classmates learning along side of her.
And sometimes Gingy even gets to go to school with her.
Katie also has a sudden aversion to normal clothing.  She is typically either dressed like this...
 Or this
And this is her preferred method for getting to "school"
And after a long hard day of learning, this is both girls favorite spot to curl up and relax with their puppy.
I think someone is going to be pretty happy in September when she starts preschool!

BUGZ!!!

Right after we got back from our trip, Kirsten was able to participate in the 2nd grade musical at her school titled BUGZ!   I had just 2 days help her memorize her lines and pull together a Firefly costume.  I think it turned out rather cute!
Katie sitting with Grandma - she loved watching her sissy sing!
Kirsten is in the back in the middle.  It was such a cute show.  The videos are too large to upload here, but her lines were really cute she said

"They've spread the blanket right here on the ground, we won't even have to climb.  Come on bugs, let's do our thing, at last it's supper time!"
The three amigas - Azalea, Kirsten and Avery
A family shot with our bug
Kirsten's cheering section - she was so lucky to have Grandma Alleman and Grandpa Lowe come and see her.
Kirsten and Michael - he was an Army Ant.
I have to admit that we partially planned the timing of our vacation so that she could be home in time to perform.  She did such a great job and are so proud of our Kirsten.
